  1. Congratulations! You now own Version 1.2a of Photogenics.

  3. Important changes from 1.2 to 1.2a
  4. ----------------------------------

  6. Several bugs have been fixed in 1.2a. We believe we have solved the
  7. stability problem with crop and compose on some machines, and there
  8. are less problems in a low-memory situation with v1.2a.
  9.  
  10. Other important changes:

  13. PrefsPrinter.gio - Fixed so it works with all colour printers, it
  14. previously had problems printing colour to some printers.
  15.  
  16. CyberGraphX.gio - Renamed (was CyBERgraphics), to fit with the
  17. new name style suggested by the developers of CyberGraphX.
  18.  
  19. ILBM rendering enhanced - Can now render to the palette already
  20. attached to an image. This allows you to load in a 32 colour image,
  21. alter it and save it out rendered to the same palette. Also the general
  22. quality of the rendering has been much improved with little or no
  23. extra speed penalty.

  25. Preferences - The preferences file is now stored in the ENV: / ENVARC: 
  26. directories rather than in the Photogenics:data directory. This was
  27. essential for network use of Photogenics.
  28.  
  29. Maximum & Minium paintmodes - Removed!
  30. The functionality of these paintmodes has been merged into the similar
  31. 'Median' paintmode. This removes more unnecessary code repetition and
  32. allows you more free memory to play with.
  33.  
  34. Highlights & Lowlights paintmodes - Merged
  35. For exactly the same reason Highlights and Lowlights have been merged
  36. into one paintmode - Hi&Lowlights. Use the options to switch between them.

  38. GIF.gio - Added patch for Archos/Zappo CD-ROMS
  39. Some devices (eg Archos CD-ROMs) do not fully support all Amiga
  40. filesystem features. If you cannot load any GIF files from CD-ROM, select
  41. the loader preferences and switch to "Async Disabled", and try again. 
  42. This will mean slightly slower performance but maintains compatability
  43. with devices like the Archos CD-ROM. Note: most CD-ROMS (eg Squirrel
  44. and Power CD) work fine without the Async disabled switch.

  46. PCD.gio - Fixed bug that prevented small files of other types (eg PCX)
  47. not loading correctly.

  49. AddSpace - option added to the menu to add space around the image.
  50.  
  51. Tablet Mode - We've had lots of people asking us what this does (we
  52. forgot to mention it in the manual). If you have a tablet that emulates
  53. a mouse you may need to select 'tablet mode' for the mouse emulation to
  54. work correctly. If you don't have a tablet you don't need to select
  55. it! Photogenics currently does not support pressure-sensitive tablets, but
  56. we hope to add that soon.

  58. Compose - Two new buttons added to allow the box in Compose to be
  59. centered or to be stretched to full size, these were both popular requests.

  61. 256-colour dither display - Removed odd blue pixels that appeared in
  62. solid black areas of the image.

  64. Many other minor bugs and inconsistencies have been fixed for V1.2a. If
  65. you find any bugs or problems with this software then please contact
  66. Almathera so they can be fixed!

  73. Warper Tool added -
  74. The easy-to-use warper tool allows you to distort, stretch, bend
  75. and twirl parts of your image with ease.

  77. IFF save improved -
  78. When saving IFF ILBM files you can now render images to any number of 
  79. bitplanes (2 to 256 colours) in colour or greyscale and with or without 
  80. high quality dithering.

  82. Printing added -
  83. Photogenics can now print to any preferences supported printer.
  84. Photogenics now also supports the Studio II colour management
  85. system (not included) for true 24-bit colour quality printouts.

  87. CyBERgraphics 24-bit painting - 
  88. Photogenics can now paint in hicolour (15/16-bit) and true colour 
  89. (24-bit) directly with any graphics card that supports the CyBERgraphics 
  90. standard (eg. CyberVision 64)

  92. Previews improved - 
  93. 256 colour screen preview has been significantly improved over V1.1a. 
  94. It now uses high quality dithering to get near 24-bit quality from a 
  95. 256-colour display. The 16-greyscale preview has been similarly improved.

  97. 16 Colour Preview Added -
  98. You can now run Photogenics in a 16 colour preview - ideal for non-AGA
  99. machines.

  101. File Load/Save speeded up -
  102. Most file formats have been considerably speeded up, both for loading
  103. and saving.

  105. Compose improved -
  106. You can now use other paintmodes inside compose (eg. RubMix) to
  107. combine the two images in many different ways.

  109. Ham6.gio/ShowHam6.gio added -
  110. Photogenics can now save and display standard HAM (or HAM-6) images,
  111. ideal for non-AGA Amigas.

  113. NewIcon support added -
  114. If you have the freeware 'NewIcons' system installed on your computer,
  115. Photogenics can save out 256 colour icon representations of your
  116. images automatically, or add small thumbnail icons to every file
  117. in a directory.

  119. Transparency Gradients added - 
  120. You can now apply various transparency gradients to rectangles, circles
  121. and other shapes you draw. For example, use this to draw rectangles which 
  122. are solid at the bottom and transparent at the top.

  124. New Paintmodes added -
  125. Colourise, RubEmboss, Gamma, Mirage, Split, BasRelief, Jitter, and many
  126. more.

  133. Call a default saver (eg ShowHam8) automatically by pressing F10.
  134. 'reprogram' the F10 key by selecting another saver and pressing Shift-F10

  136. Crop option added -
  137. You can now crop an image to remove unwanted borders, etc.

  139. and many other improvements - new options for paintmodes, better
  140. support for file formats, etc.

  142. *NOTE* Some Paintmodes/loaders from V1.1a are now obsolete and are
  143. no longer included.

  148. - The Invert Luma (HLS Space) mode.

  150. AddDust paintmode is now an option for the AddNoise Paintmode

  153. The ColourNoise and WhiteNoise loaders are now combined into one
  154. (Noise) with an option (Colour or White Noise).
